The wii was the sucessor to the gamecube.
The NX would be the successor to the wii u in that case.
I just can't wait to make the biggest I told you so of my life.

I'm just saying there are multiple ways to look at this. The Wii U is much more explicitly a Wii successor in that they share a name and you can use the wii controller for many Wii U games. Same for the 3DS. It may take on a new name, but it's still going to be a Nintendo gaking device, and therefore essentially a successor to their previous ones even if it's not meant to be as direct as previous ones.
