Publish date: 2024-06-08

From Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia.

The Pokémon Handbook to the Galar Region is an edition of The Official Pokémon Handbook series that was published by Scholastic on July 7, 2020. It serves as a paper form of the 400 Pokémon in the Galar regional Pokédex in alphabetical order, including Gigantamax forms. The book is 240 pages long. The book also contains a poster which features the Galar first partner Pokémon with Zacian and Zamazenta. Like Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version Handbook, this handbook uses artwork and information from the video games rather than the anime.

The book uses both US customary units and SI units for height and weight listings.

Blurb

Meet the Galar region Pokémon! Welcome to the Galar region! From Alcremie and Appletun to Zacian and Zamazenta, this is your A-Z guide to the Pokémon you'll encounter in this cool new region. This book has everything you need to know about them! You'll find: Gigantamax forms

Entries

The entries for each Pokémon are in an easy-to-read page setup. A page may be devoted to one or two Pokémon. If a Pokémon has a Gigantamax form, it is listed immediately afterwards. For Pokémon with regional forms, only one regional form is shown. If the Pokémon has a Galarian form, this will be shown. If the Pokémon only has a Kantonian and Alolan form, then the Kantonian form will be shown. Meowth and Yamask are exceptions to this, as they evolve into different Pokémon than their regional forms, with their Kantonian and Unovan forms, respectively, included in the book.

Name

Each entry begins with the Pokémon's name, its category, and their type.

Information

Each Pokémon has the following information below its name:

  • How to say it

  • Imperial Weight
  • Metric Weight
  • Gender
  • Ability

  • Below these, the Pokédex entries from Pokémon Sword and Shield are included.

    Image and other information

Each Pokémon has Ken Sugimori's artwork on its page. Legendary Pokémon are labelled at the top of the page and there is a golden glow around the Pokémon.

    Evolution chain

At the very bottom of a Pokémon's entry is a diagram of its evolutionary family. Pokémon that do not evolve instead have the words "Does not evolve". A Pokémon that is on one side of a branched evolution will show itself, and the Pokémon it evolved from, but not the other side of the branch.
