Content

The book starts off with tips for trying to predict the outcomes of Pokémon battles. Type, experience, skill, and personality are cited as key factors. The book then gives more information on Pokémon types. After that, 34 one-on-one battles (except for one two-on-two) are presented, with the stats of each Pokémon below their pictures. The battles feature 63 different Pokémon. The battles range from classic duels like Ash's Pikachu vs. Team Rocket's Meowth, to type-themed battles like Venusaur vs. Sceptile, to Legendary battles like Groudon vs. Kyogre. As the book was published towards the beginning of Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire of the anime, it mainly focuses on Generation III Pokémon. At the end of the book, the reader can create their own battles by drawing Pokémon in the spaces.
