A Painter (Japanese: えかき Painter) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation III games. They are depicted as girls wearing berets and carrying art supplies (specifically pencils and sketchbooks, despite their name). They are similar to the Artist class of later games.

They specialize in using the Painter Pokémon, Smeargle.
