Energy Search (Japanese: エネルギー転送 Energy Transfer) is an Item card. It was first released in the Fossil expansion as a Trainer card.

Original Series print
Search your deck for a basic Energy card and put it into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.
e-Card Series through Platinum Series prints
Search your deck for a basic Energy card, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.
Black & White Series prints
Search your deck for a basic Energy card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.
You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).
Sword & Shield Series prints
Search your deck for a basic Energy card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.
You may play any number of Item cards during your turn.
Scarlet & Violet Series prints
Search your deck for a Basic Energy card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.
You may play any number of Item cards during your turn.

e-Reader data

The Expedition Base Set and Theater Limited VS Pack prints include a Dot Code strip for use with the e-Reader, and have the card ID A-28-#. The short strip contains a brief card summary. There is no long strip for this card.

Release information

Original Series

This card was included in the Fossil expansion with artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi. This print was included in the Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Trading Card Game 2: The Invasion of Team GR! for Game Boy Color.

e-Card Series

It was reprinted in the Expedition Base Set, first released in the Pokémon-e Starter Deck, with new artwork by Kai Ishikawa and an updated effect and e-Card layout and Dot Code strip. It was also included in the Japanese Theater Limited VS Pack.

EX Series

This card was reprinted again during the EX Series with the same artwork by Kai Ishikawa. These prints feature the new card layout introduced during the Series. This print was included in the English EX Ruby & Sapphire, EX Unseen Forces, and EX Crystal Guardians expansion and the EX Trainer Kit and EX Trainer Kit 2.

Diamond & Pearl Series

Energy Search was reprinted again in the Diamond & Pearl expansion, first released in the Japanese Space-Time Creation expansion and Japanese Entry Pack, with the new layout introduced during the Diamond & Pearl Series. It was also included in the Diamond & Pearl Trainer Kit. It was given new artwork by Ryo Ueda for the release of Majestic Dawn, first included in the Japanese Magmortar vs Electivire Deck Kit.

Platinum Series

The illustration by Ryo Ueda was reprinted in the Japanese Advent of Arceus expansion.

Black & White Series

During the Black & White Series, Energy Search was included as an Item card in the Black & White expansion with new artwork by Ryo Ueda, first released in each of the Battle Strength Decks. Outside Japan, this print was reprinted in the Black & White Trainer Kit and the Boundaries Crossed expansion. In Japan, it was reprinted in the Battle Gift Set: Thundurus vs Tornadus and the Keldeo Battle Strength Deck.

Sword & Shield Series

Energy Search was reprinted with new artwork by Studio Bora Inc. during the Sword & Shield Series. It was included in the Sword & Shield expansion, first released in each of the Japanese V Starter Sets. In Japan, it was reprinted in the Fire Incineroar V Deck, the Start Deck 100 (available in both Non Holofoil and Mirror Holofoil versions), and as a Mirror Holofoil in both the Start Deck 100 CoroCoro Comic Version and Charizard VSTAR vs Rayquaza VMAX Special Deck Set. Outside Asia, it was reprinted in the special Crown Zenith expansion.

Scarlet & Violet Series

During the Scarlet & Violet Series, Energy Search was reprinted in each of the three ex Starter Sets with new artwork by Toyste Beach. These prints feature the updated Trainer card layout introduced with the Scarlet & Violet expansion. It was reprinted in the Japanese ex Start Decks and the 2023 World Championships Yokohama Deck: Pikachu.
